I've done a lot of different things, some of them successfully, and all of them ethically. I'm fortunate, today, to be able to live wherever I want. I chose Anguilla, a peaceful British Colony with great beaches and weather, friendly people and a good measure of prosperity for most everyone.
I tend to make my own rules. I like to think for myself. I don't run my
life to make it look good to the neighbors. Social conventions don't
imprison me, other people's religions don't interest me a whole lot.
I like dogs, I play the piano and organ, I enjoy fixing things, I like to write. I like quiet dinners, the ocean, sunsets, and being in love.
I do a lot of things relating to history. I sit on various boards and
committees here that manage the island's historical resources. Anguilla
has a rich and interesting history, and our National Museum will be open
soon.
I'm a member of several international organizations and I enjoy going to
conferences. I just came back from Texas, where I talked to the
Conference on Historical and Underwater Archaeology about Anguilla's
historic shipwrecks. I'll be doing a rerun for the Caribbean
archaeologists in the Bahamas this summer, after going to the historians'
conference in Martinique in the Spring.
I collect antique Caribbean postcards. My collection is the largest in the Eastern Caribbean. I have a lot of interesting friends all over the world. I'd travel more, but there always seem to be so many interesting things to do at home.
Currently I am working on finishing my house. It's at a place called Blackgarden Bay, where pelicans dive for fish, giant iguanas sit in the trees, and turtles come up on the beach at night to lay their eggs. In this magical place I'm building the home of my dreams. It will be finished in a few months.
It's time now to think about sharing all this with someone. I'd like her to be thoughtful, beautiful, sensual and young, maybe even very young. I'd like her to have an adventurous spirit, and to be an ethical person. I'd like her to take charge of bringing youth, beauty and spirit to our lives together. Maybe we can learn from one another.
